Silver Ferns need Leota back for Commonwealth Games: Plummer

5:18 am on 9 October 2013

The former Australia netball coach Norma Plummer believes the Silver Ferns will be desperate to get midcourter Liana Leota back into the side for next year's Commonwealth Games.

The Silver Ferns lost the fourth test and with it the Constellation Cup when they were beaten 52-47 by Australia in Melbourne last night for the Diamonds to take a 3-1 lead in the best of five series.

Leota moved to England with rugby-playing husband Johnny last year but will return to play for the Pulse in next year's trans-Tasman competition.

The Silver Ferns have struggled at wing attack throughout the series and Plummer says it's obvious they miss someone like Leota who is in the mould of Temepara Bailey.
