Wellington's unbeaten run in the provincial rugby premiership has come to an end, beaten 35-24 by Hawke's Bay in Napier.
Hawke's Bay scored four tries to three and led 23-14 at half-time.
Wellington still finish top of the Premiership and play Counties Manukau in the semi-finals.
Hawke's Bay climb to second in the Championship and will need other results to go their way to claim a home semi-final next weekend.
