Canterbury beat North Harbour 38-nil in this afternoon's ITM Cup in Albany, to secure a semi-final in the domestic rugby competition.
A four-try burst in the space of 22 minutes gave the five-time defending champions the bonus point they required in order to host the second premiership semi-final against Auckland next Saturday.
From there one of the competition favourites scored two second-half tries in quick succession.
One setback for Canterbury was an injury to Andy Ellis who dislocated his shoulder during the game and could rule him out of the finals.
