Lowy wants Australian to manage Socceroos

Football Federation Australia chairman Frank Lowy says he wants the next Socceroos coach to be an Australian.

Lowy says it will be between A-League coaches Ange Postecoglou, Graham Arnold and Tony Popovic with a decision set to be made in the next fortnight.

He says he doesn't intend on employing a short-term coach, but the chosen candidate will see Australia through the World Cup, Asian Cup and beyond.

Holger Osieck was sacked at the weekend after the Socceroos suffered their second straight 6-nil loss.
