Liverpool Football Club is preparing to launch a new youth academy in India next year.

The five-time European champions will work with the Indian club DSK to set up the facility, which will open in January.

DSK are based in Pune, which is the base of the Indian poultry firm Venky's, the owners of the English second-tier side Blackburn Rovers.

English clubs view India as a potential source of playing talent and teams including Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers have run coaching classes there in recent years.

The Spanish champions Barcelona announced last year plans to open a football school in Delhi.
