Tom Donnelly signs with Blues

Former All Black lock Tom Donnelly has joined the Blues Super Rugby side for next season.

The 32-year-old former Highlander and Crusader has signed with the franchise for one year.

With the departure of Ali Williams and Anthony Boric at the end of last season, Blues head coach Sir John Kirwan says Donnelly will provide invaluable experience at the lineout in their absence.

The Blues have Patrick Tuipulotu, Liaki Moli and Culum Retallick as their other locks.

Donnelly made his Super Rugby debut for the Highlanders in 2004 and earned the first of his 15 All Blacks test caps against Australia in 2009.

The Blues earlier signed prop Tony Woodcock back up, and are expected to sign midfielder Ma'a Nonu within the next week.
