The All Black test centurion Mils Muliaina has re-signed with the Chiefs for next year's Super Rugby season after two years playing in Japan.

Muliaina left for Japan after the All Blacks' World Cup success in 2011.

Muliaina's versatility means he will cover the back three and midfield for the Chiefs.

Crusaders centre Robbie Fruean will also join the Chiefs next season, having withrawn from the Super Rugby competition partway through this season to undergo heart surgery.

The 25-year-old Fruean has spent the past four years with the Christchurch based franchise.

Muliaina will join the Chiefs in February at the conclusion of his Japanese season and Fruean will assemble with the Chiefs for pre-season training at the end of November.
