Wellington will host next weekend's ITM Cup Premiership final after a convincing 41-10 win over Counties-Manukau in their semi-final on Friday night.

The Lions were favoured going into the match and didn't disappoint as they opened up a 15-0 half-time lead with tries to the halfback, Frae Wilson, and the wing, Alapati Leiua.

However Counties hit back after the break when the captain, Fritz Lee, barrelled over, but Wellington answered shortly after when, Shaun Treeby stole the ball and ran 40 metres to score.

Wellington continued to pile on the points with tries to Faifili Levave, Ambrose Curtis and another for Leiua, before Toni Pulu scored to give the Steelers some late consolation.

The Lions will play the Canterbury in the final after the five-time defending champions thrashed Auckland 56-26 in Christchurch in the second semi.
