The Breakers have signed one import but lost another as they prepare for the upcoming Australian national basketball league season.
The Auckland-based club has signed 6ft 11inch American centre Rick Rickert, who's returning for his third season with the club, but who Breakers General Manager Richard Clarke initally thought was out of their price range.
Rickert had offers from other clubs but says he couldn't see himself turning out for anyone else in the Australian league.
He's also looking settling in New Zealand long term and considering making himself available for the Tall Blacks.
However the Breakers are now on the hunt for a second import after a recurrent of back and knee problems forced the former NBL title-winning Melbourne Tiger Dave Thomas to pull out of his one-year deal at the club.
