South Africa have stepped up their preparations for the 2015 Rugby World Cup with the recall of stalwarts Bakkies Botha and Jacque Fourie for their season-ending European tour next month.

The Springboks face Wales, Scotland and France, and coach Heyneke Meyer's recalled Toulon lock Botha and Japan-based centre Fourie for the tour.

The pair haven't worn their national team jersey since the 2011 World Cup - but between them they have 145 international appearances.

Along with the recent recall of halfback Fourie du Preez for the Rugby Championship, Meyer is re-introducing World Cup winners from 2007 into the squad, also including Japan-based wing JP Pietersen.

Fit-again Cheetahs first five Johan Goosen returns, along with Stormers wing Gio Aplon, while a quartet of uncapped players will also be taken on tour - Stormers prop Frans Malherbe and his provincial team-mates, halfback Louis Schreuder and hooker Scarra Ntubeni, as well as Sharks lock Pieter-Steph du Toit.
