The Boston Red Sox have beaten the St Louis Cardinals 6-1 to win their eighth Major League Baseball World Series title and first at Fenway Park in Boston since 1918.
Boston won the best of seven series four games to two to become only the second team other than the 1991 Minnesota Twins to go from last place in one season to World Series champions the next.
The Red Sox batter David Ortiz was named the Most Valuable Player of the series.
