The New Zealand Breakers have snapped their four-game losing streak to climb off the bottom of the Australian basketball league ladder.
The defending champions beat the Hawks 97-89 in Wollongong and move above their hosts up to sixth place in the eight-team competition with a two-win, four loss record. The Hawks drop to last place.
The Breakers were up 26-21 after the first quarter and led 49-45 at half-time.
The Hawks put in a strong third quarter to trail by just one point heading down the stretch, 69-68 - and the home side crept ahead early in the fourth period.
But the Breakers came back to win and the defending champions now climb off the bottom of the NBL ladder.
Centre Alex Pledger top-scored for the Breakers with 19 points but the Hawks import Rotnei Clarke had the really hot hand - the shooting guard scored 36 of the Wollongong club's points by himself.
