Black Caps beat Sri Lanka in 2nd ODI

6:42 am on 14 November 2013

The New Zealand cricketers are celebrating a remarkable one day win over Sri Lanka in game two of their three-match series.

In a match reduced to 23 overs aside after a 5-hour rain interruption, the home team made 138 for one, and the Black Caps achieved their target of 198 off the last ball of the match - Nathan McCullum bringing up the winning runs with his third six off the last ball of the match.

The run chase started disastrously with three wickets falling in the first two overs, but opener Tom Latham and middle order batsman Luke Ronchi gave the Black Caps some hope with big hitting innings of 86 and 49, before McCullum smashed an amazing 32 runs off nine balls, 25 off the last over.

So after a washed out game one, the Black Caps are 1-0 up in the three-match series.

The decider is in Dambulla.
