Mortlock out for rest of Tri Nations series

Stirling Mortlock's worst fears have been confirmed - a knee injury to the Wallabies rugby captain has ended his Tri Nations series.

Scans taken yesterday revealed a torn knee cartilege from last weekend's 29-17 loss to South Africa in Cape Town, and he'll be off the scene for six weeks after surgery today.

Utility forward Peter Kimlin is also expected to be out of action for up to six weeks after damaging a nerve in his right shoulder on a recent development tour of Europe.

The Wallabies selectors have called up lock Mark Chisholm and the Waratahs back Kurtley Beale to an expanded squad before the next match against New Zealand in Sydney on Saturday week.
