The New Zealand Breakers have won just their third game of the Australian basketball league season, while pacesetters the Perth Wildcats lost their first game.
The Breakers beat the Townsville Crocodiles 81-74 at home in a scrappy game at Auckland's North Shore Events Centre.
Swingman Thomas Abercrombie top-scored with 24 points for the three-time defending champions, who improve to three wins and six losses.
The Breakers only led 43-36 at half-time. They climb above the Crocodiles into fifth place on the ladder, while Perth stay top despite losing 91-86 to the 36ers in Adelaide.
