The Otago and Highlanders player Lucky Mulipola has been suspended from all rugby until early next month but it could be longer, after being involved in an alleged altercation in Dunedin in May.
Mulipola has been censured by the New Zealand Rugby Union and is also facing assault charges in relation to the matter.
The rugby union's Neil Sorensen says Mulipola initially misled the Highlanders and the rugby union about his involvement.
The union's also reserved the right to re-convene the disciplinary hearing once court charges are resolved.
