Tony Pulis has been appointed new manager of English Premier League football club Crystal Palace.

The 55-year-old Welshman has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and arrives at Selhurst Park with the London club six points from safety at the foot of the Premier League table.

Palace have struggled since being promoted last season, losing nine of their first 11 games this term.

They have been without a permanent manager since Ian Holloway left the club on October 23rd, in the aftermath of a 4-1 defeat at home to Fulham.

Pulis made his name as a manager at Stoke City, leading the club to promotion from the Championship in 2008 and turning them into an established top-flight side over the following five seasons.

He left Stoke in May after a 13th-place finish in the Premier League last season.
