F1 drivers market fires up

5:44 am on 26 November 2013

Only a day after the final round of the Formula One motor racing season, the drivers' market for next year has fired up and the moody Venezuelan Pastor Maldonado has admitted he's in advanced talks with both Lotus and Sauber.

Maldonado has sponsorship estimated to be worth more than 35 million euros that he can offer to his next team, and if he joins Lotus his team-mate will probably be the Frenchman Romain Grosjean who had an impressive last half of the just completed season.

There'll be a massive regulation change for next year with the 2.4 litre normally aspirated V8 engine replaced by a 1.6 litre turbocharged V6 with energy recovery systems.
