Sledging set to continue

6:16 am on 27 November 2013

There's no sign of any easing up in the sledging debate which erupted during the first Ashes cricket test in Brisbane.

The visiting coach Andy Flower says he's considering a meeting with his Australian counterpart Darren Lehmann to set some ground rules before next week's second test in Adelaide.

While England were preparing for a two-day game in Alice Springs, the Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle kept the debate simmering when he reminded the England fast bowler Jimmy Anderson in a radio interview that if he can dish it out, it's only fair he has to cop it.

Siddle expects a lot more sledging before the series is over, but he says it will be under control.

Meanwhile Flower has slammed the Australian batsman David Warner as disrespectful and ignorant for suggesting in a news conference that the England top order batsman Jonathon Trott's dismissals were weak, and that the Poms had scared eyes.

Trott has returned to England to deal with a stress-related illness.
