Australia's Masters golf champion Adam Scott has begun his bid for a rare sweep of his country's Triple Crown in emphatic style at the final leg, the Australian Open, being hosted by Royal Sydney.

The world number two has battled exhaustion in a frenetic four-week swing at home, which has included the World Cup played last week at Royal Melbourne - which Scott won with Jason Day, who also claimed the individual World Cup honours.

The two other marquee players at Royal Sydney are Day and the Northern Irish star Rory McIlroy, who's keen to win his first title of the year.

There are 10 New Zealanders in the field.
