Adam Scott has the triple crown of Australian golf in his grasp after carding a sizzling 10 under par 62 first round at the Australian Open.

Scott leads the Sydney tournament by three strokes from Canada's Ryan Yip.

Scott birdied his first six holes and the last four.

Gareth Paddison and Michael Long are the best-placed New Zealanders after posting even par 72s, while Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy is in a share of 13th after a three under 69.

After winning the Australian PGA and Australian Masters earlier this month, Scott is on track to become just the second player to win the triple crown since fellow Australian Robert Allenby in 2005.
