Ahead of January's Ballon D'Or award the world's two best players Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo shared the spoils in the Spanish football league's season awards.
Messi was named La Liga's best player of the 2012/13 season and best forward at the event held in Madrid, while Ronaldo won the MVP gong that recognises the player who has had the most impact on his club, both on and off the pitch.
Both players are on the FIFA Ballon D'Or shortlist for the best player of 2013.
Messi is in Argentina recovering from a hamstring injury and was unable to attend the ceremony.
Ronaldo, who has also been sidelined with a hamstring injury, is confident he will return soon.
