All Blacks find synergy in Bloods' no dickheads culture

6:33 am on 20 August 2009

The All Blacks are so impressed with the Sydney Swans' "no dickheads" policy, they are talking with the AFL club to find out how it could be used in New Zealand rugby.

Assistant coach Wayne Smith was to meet Swans staff yesterday to learn more about the team culture, saying it had a synergy with All Black tradition.

Smith says he's really impressed with their whole attitude that a player can be recruited for the Swans but he doesn't become a Blood until certain standards are reached,

He says there are a lot of traditions and customs and bone-deep values associated with the All lacks so there's some synergy there.

The All Blacks kicking coach Mick Byrne, a former AFL player with the Swans, has been partly responsible for the hook-up, which could even result in cross-code pre-season camps.
