Britain's Olympic showjumping champion Ben Maher is being sued for $1.4 million amid allegations that he made secret profits from horse deals.

Maher, who has been the top-ranked rider in the world for much of this year, is defending an action brought by his longstanding backers Mike and Emma Phillips, for whom Maher acted as agent in the buying and selling of horses.

But the Phillips have accused the 30-year-old of making money on a number of deals by falsifying prices.
