Platini wants sin-bins introduced

1:19 pm on 8 December 2013

European football president Michel Platini says UEFA should consider introducing rugby-style sin-binnings in football to replace yellow cards.

The UEFA boss believes such time penalties would be fairer because they would immediately favour the team directly affected by the player's foul.

At present, a player who picks up a number of yellow cards - either during the same game or during a succession of matches - is suspended for the next game.

Platini also says fouls committed by goalkeepers that result in a penalty kick should not also be penalised with a red card.
