McCullum upbeat despite draw at University Oval

The New Zealand cricket captain Brendon McCullum refuses to get disheartened despite another near miss as he searches for his first win as test skipper.

The Black Caps looked to be on the way to victory in the first test against the West Indies in Dunedin, before rain intervened, forcing them off the field 33 runs shy of their target.

It continues the winless run since McCullum took over the job a year ago, but he says they're not far away from the breakthrough.

He says they're judged by their results and it's obviously frustrating but sooner or later the wins will come, and they'll stick to what they're doing.

The second test starts in Wellington on Wednesday.
