Breakers' big man under injury cloud

5:58 am on 12 December 2013

They're playing the top team and their arch-rivals next, it's basically a must-win, and now the New Zealand Breakers basketballers have revealed their star big man is struggling to breathe properly.

Alex Pledger fell heavily at Vector arena during last month's loss to Adelaide and the Breakers centre is still having breathing difficulties ahead of Friday's visit to Vector by the Perth Wildcats.

Coach Dean Vickerman doesn't know what's wrong with the 7 foot Tall Black, but hopes medical tests will soon reveal the problem

The Breakers may be the three-time defending champions but they're sitting third from bottom on the ANBL ladder - and after the Perth game, they don't play at home again until late January.
