Kinloch local Graham O'Grady has successfully defended his Taupo Half Ironman title while Cambridge's Candice Hammond won the women's race.
O'Grady led throughout to win the 1.9-kilometre swim, 90-kilometre bike and 21.1-kilometre run by eight minutes in a time of four hours and 28 seconds, with Mike Phillips of Christchurch second.
It was fourth time lucky for Hammond who took out the women's title in four hours 25 minutes and 40 seconds - just a minute outside Samantha Warriner's 2011 race record.
Auckland's Hannah Lawrence was second.
