Williams sets up tantalising final with Dementieva

World number two Serena Williams has brushed aside Czech Lucie Safarova 6-3 6-2 to advance to the semi-finals of the Toronto Cup, setting up a mouth-watering clash with Elena Dementieva.

Williams needed just 57 minutes to dismiss the 46th-ranked Safarova with the 11-times grand slam winner displaying impressive form on the Canadian hardcourts.

Dementieva had to work much harder for her semi-final spot, the fourth-seeded Russian scraping a 6-7 6-1 6-3 win over feisty Australian Samantha Stosur.

Fans will be hoping for a repeat of Williams and Dementieva's recent Wimbledon semi-final, where the American won 8-6 in the third set before going on to beat sister Venus in the final.
