The England paceman Stuart Broad has been cleared of a foot fracture and is expected to bat in the third Ashes cricket test against Australia in Perth.

Broad was struck struck on his right foot by a Mitchell Johnson yorker yesterday.

Initial X-rays were inconclusive, but an MRI scan has cleared Broad of any fracture.

Broad has been England's best bowler this series with 14 wickets.

Broad's fitness will be monitored over the coming days before a decision is made on his availability for the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.
