Distance likely the catalyst for Ko's coaching change

Off-course issues appear to be the catalyst behind the split behind the golf star Lydia Ko and her coach of eleven years Guy Wilson according to veteran New Zealand golf Greg Turner.

Wilson has coached the world number four since she started playing as a five-year-old at Pupuke golf club and has overseen her five professional title wins.

Wilson said in a statement he was incredibly disappointed at the decision by Ko's camp, with American David Leadbeater now expected to coach Ko.

Turner says he's somewhat surprised at the move but says logistically there would be problems with Ko based in the United States and Wilson in Auckland.

Turner says he hopes Ko doesn't forget the huge part Wilson has played in her career.
