The Wellington Phoenix football coach Ernie Merrick says he hopes the club hasn't seen the last of striker Paul Ifill.
Ifill had surgery on a torn Achilles tendon and is expected to be unable to play for up to a year, which means he'll miss the rest of the A-League season, when his contract with the club expires.
However Merrick says the 34-year-old still figures in his future plans.
He says Ifill's injury underlines the need to find another striker or attacking midfielder and they're already searching for such a player.
