England call up two more spinners

12:23 pm on 26 December 2013

Spin bowlers Scott Borthwick and James Tredwell were added to the England cricket squad for the remainder of the Ashes series in Australia following Graeme Swann's surprise retirement.

But Borthwick, a 23-year-old leg spinner from Durham didn't make the cut for the fourth Test at the MCG on Boxing Day, while Redwell, a 31-year-old off-spinner, will join the squad during the Melbourne match, and will be available for selection for the fifth and final Test in Sydney, starting on January 3rd.

The left-arm spinner Monty Panesar is the other slow bowler in England's squad.

Jonny Bairstow comes in for Matt Prior in the only change for the tourists, while the Australians unsurprisingly have an unchanged team.
