Lydia Ko's new coach American David Leadbetter concedes he was initially reluctant to work with the 16-year-old Auckland golfer.
Ko, who will be based in the United States, has split with her coach of the past eleven years Guy Wilson.
Leadbetter told the golf website GolfChannel.com that he was was well aware of the sensitivities that would be involved with Ko making a switch.
He says he was very aware of the relationship she had with her coach and tred lightly, but confirmed Ko's camp approached him about the arrangement.
