Ashes fast bowler not ready to retire

Ryan Harris has declared he wants to make it through to Australia's Ashes defence in 2015, as the veteran fast bowler looks to make up for lost time.

His three-wicket haul on day two of the fifth Test gave Harris a record to rival Australia's greatest fast bowlers.

He possesses the fourth-best career average of any Australian bowler to have played more than 20 Tests and taken more than 50 wickets.

That's despite Harris' Test career starting at 30, amid a seemingly never-ending run of injuries that would have driven most to retirement.

Now he's got his eyes on a farewell tour of the UK, by which time he'll be nearing 36 years old.

In doubt to take the field in the fifth test due to an ongoing knee complaint, Harris says he hopes to go on Australia's tour of South Africa this summer before having surgery to remove debris from the joint,
