Lawson's record hopes put on hold

6:05 am on 7 January 2014

Gary Lawson's hopes of setting a new record for the number of national bowls titles have been put on hold with his team failing to make post section play in the fours at the national open championship in Dunedin.

More successful have been the teams skipped by Blackjacks Ali Forsyth and Andrew Kelly as well as Peter Belliss's side.

Qualifying for post section play hasn't resulted in any major upsets in the women's field and today's action will start with an enticing first round match between Blackjack skips Mandy Boyd and Sandra Keith.
