Olympic to face Three Kings in Chatham Cup final

8:05 am on 31 August 2009

There'll be a new name engraved on the 86-year-old knockout football trophy the Chatham Cup in three weekends' time after Wellington Olympic and Auckland's Three Kings United meet in the final.

The two surviving teams made the most of home advantage in Sunday's semi-finals, Three Kings coming from behind to beat Miramar 2-1 at Keith Hay Park while Olympic scored a 2-0 win over Manurewa at Newtown Park.

The final will take place at North Harbour Stadium on the 19th or 20th of September - unless a move to the capital is needed to secure television coverage.

Also on the bill will be the Women's Knockout Cup final between defending champions Lynn Avon United of Auckland and Waikato's Claudelands Rovers.

Lynn Avon thrashed Upper Hutt City 10-0 in their semi-final in Auckland while Rovers beat Western 3-2 in Christchurch.
