FIFA has backtracked on an announcement from the secretary general, Jerome Valcke, that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar would not be played in the summer.
Valcke told a French radio station the World Cup would not be played in June or July due to fears over the extreme heat and it would instead be played between November and January.
However FIFA says Valcke was merely giving his view on the issue and the timing of the tournament is yet to be decided.
