Hazard and Torres fire Chelsea to the top

Chelsea have won 2-0 at Hull City to move to the top of the English Premier League football table.

Eden Hazard and Fernando Torres struck after half-time as the in-form London Blues comfortably won to move a point above New Year leaders Arsenal, who don't play until Tuesday, and two points clear of Manchester City, who play Newcastle United tomorrow.

Champions Manchester United gained some revenge on Swansea City for last week's FA Cup defeat, snapping a three-match losing run with a 2-0 victory over the Welsh side at Old Trafford.

United are four points outside the Premier League's top four in seventh.

There were also 2-0 wins for fourth-placed Everton and fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Everton saw off visitors Norwich City while Tottenham Hotspur won at home to Crystal Palace.

It was the same 2-0 scoreline for West Ham United, as the Hammers climbed out of the relegation zone at Cardiff City.

Fellow Londoners Fulham unhappily hosted fellow strugglers Sunderland, losing 4-1, while Southampton repelled West Bromwich Albion 1-0.
