Two national champions lead a strong team which has been named for this month's New Zealand Cycle Classic in the Manawatu.

The new under-23 New Zealand time trial champion Fraser Gough has been entered to replace injured pro rider Sam Bewley.

Gough competed with the New Zealand endurance track team and a Belgium combination on the roads of Europe this year.

Hayden McCormick, who won the under 23 road title last weekend, has also been named.

The experienced pair are joined by James Oram, the recent winner of the Tour of Southland, Tom Scully, and Sam Friend.

New Zealand's only UCI men's event is from January 29 to February 2.
