The former New Zealand cricket player and coach Warren Lees has been named as interim coach of the national women's team.

Lees comes in for Katrina Keenan, who announced her resignation earlier this month.

He'll see the side through the home series against the West Indies in late February and the ICC World Twenty20 tournament in March.

Most recently Lees has been coaching the Otago Sparks and will continue until the end of the women's domestic season.
