Bolivian player banned one year for flying karate kick

A Bolivian footballer has been banned for one year for assaulting an opponent with a flying karate kick after both players had been sent off.

A Blooming club defender Sergio Jauregui was suspended after incident in the derby against Oriente Petrolero.

The attack left Oriente forward Leonardo Medina needing hospital treatment.

Television pictures showed the trouble started when Medina's elbow appearing to catch Jauregui, who then pushed Medina to the ground.

Medina was entering the tunnel behind the goal when he was struck feet first high on the chest and collapsed.

Jauregui later visited Medina in hospital to ,apologise and offer to pay the Uruguayan player's medical expenses.
