Merrick dismisses Brisbane match as benchmark game

The Wellington Phoenix coach Ernie Merrick is dismissing tonight's match away to A-League competition leaders Brisbane as a benchmark game for his side.

The Phoenix are unbeaten in their last five games having beaten the Melbourne Victory 5-0 in their last outing, while also having enjoyed a recent win over second placed Western Sydney.

However they've never won at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, although the Phoenix are helped by the absence of Brisbane's top striker Besart Berisha, who's suspended.

The Phoenix though are without Costa Rican internationals Kenny Cunningham and Carlos Hernandez, who are on international duty.

Merrick doesn't believe one match can give an indication of how a side is performing.
