NBA star Kobe Bryant has been named an All-Star for the 16th time, despite being sidelined by injury for all but six games this season.

The Los Angeles Lakers guard made a late season debut after recovering from a torn Achilles tendon, but played just half a dozen games before a broken bone in his knee put him out of action again.

Bryant was voted into the Western Conference starting lineup for the exhibition game along with the Golden State guard, Stephen Curry, Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, the Clippers' forward, Blake Griffin and Minnesota's Kevin Love.

The reigning MVP LeBron James headlines the Eastern Conference team where he is joined by his Miami Heat team-mate, Dwyane Wade, the New York Knicks forward, Carmelo Anthony, Cleveland's Kyrie Irving and Indiana's Paul George.
