The All Whites defender Ivan Vicelich is retiring from international football for a second time.

Vicelich, who's 37, has played 88 internationals for New Zealand having made his debut in a seven-nil loss to Uruguay in 1995.

He retired from international football in 2008 but All Whites coach Ricki Herbert urged him to return in 2009.

Vicelich says the highlight of his All Whites career was the World Cup qualifying win over Bahrain and the subsequent World Cup in South Africa 2010.

He retires as the most capped All Whites player and will continue to play for Auckland City in the domestic premiership.
