Ko defies illness to go 2nd at NZ Open

Lydia Ko has moved into second place at the New Zealand Women's golf open despite nearly pulling out of the tournament with a stomach bug.

After firing a three under par second round score of 69 on Saturday at Clearwater in Christchurch, the defending champion revealed she'd been to hospital in the morning where she received medication.

The ailment didn't seem to limit Ko as she moved up the leaderboard from third place.

At one point the world number four captured a share of the lead before finishing in second at seven under for the tournament, two strokes behind the leader Anya Alvarez of America.

Ko shot five birdies and two bogey's today and will be paired with Alvarez in tomorrow's final round.
