Ireland beat Scotland in Six Nations

6:54 am on 3 February 2014

Ireland have comfortably won their opening Six Nations rugby championship match beating Scotland 28-6 in Dublin.

Ireland, who last season endured their worst Six Nations in 14 years, showed signs of the rugby that brought them so close to beating the All Blacks in November with tries from Rob Kearney, Andrew Trimble and Jamie Heaslip easing them home.

Ireland next meet holders Wales, who beat Italy yesterday, while in the other first round match yesterday France beat England.
