India and NZ Eleven draw tour match

6:38 pm on 3 February 2014

India's two day cricket match against a New Zealand Eleven in Whangarei has ended in a draw.

The match is a buildup to the first test starting in Auckland on Thursday.

India began the day at 41 for none in reply to the New Zealand's first innings of 262 for nine declared and lost wickets at regular intervals with their highest test ranked batsman Cheteshwar Pujara who has a test average of 66 dismissed for 33.

A 99 run fourth wicket stand between Rohit Sharma with 59 and Ajinkya Rahane, who made 60, steadied their innings with both batsmen retiring.

India eventually reached 313 for seven declared.
