Tall Blacks unsure of Adams availability for World Cup

6:38 am on 6 February 2014

The Tall Blacks say it'll be up to the country's sole NBA player Steven Adams as to whether he plays at the basketball World Cup in Spain later this year.

The New Zealand men's basketball team has been drawn in the same pool as the United States, Turkey, Ukraine, the Dominican Republic and Finland.

The side's assistant coach Paul Henare is unsure on Adams' availability and says his Oaklahoma City Thunder side could put pressure on him to remain with them during the NBA off-season.

They'll play their games in Bilbao in September.

The top four from each group qualify for the knockout round of 16.
