Trickett considering retirement

Australia's Olympic champion swimmer Libby Trickett is taking an immediate break from the sport to consider her future.

The 24-year-old multiple world and Olympic gold medallist says she is undecided about whether she wanted to continue training through to London 2012 and needs time away from the pool to reassess her plans.

Trickett is won three Olympic gold medals, one at Athens in 2004 then two more at Beijing last year, as well as eight world championship gold medals, including a record five at the 2007 titles in Melbourne.

She's lost most of her freestyle and butterfly her world records since the introduction of new bodysuits and failed to win a gold medal at this year's world championships in Rome, settling for a silver and two bronzes.
